Solent Green might be people but...

grilled Neanderthals make a damn fine meal.

We ate the Neanderthals?

(Metro NY) Scientists may have finally stumbled upon a plausible explanation for the disappearance of the Neanderthals some 30,000 years ago: We ate them, claims a leading fossil expert.

Fernando Rozzi, a research team leader at Paris’s Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique, says markings on a Neanderthal jawbone found in the south of France are indicative of human interactions. The marks are similar, Rozzi says, to ones made on deer and other animals killed by Stone Age-era men.

Neanderthals, who lived all across Europe hundreds of thousands of years ago, conveniently disappeared just around the time human beings arrived on the scene.

“For years, people have tried to hide away from the evidence of cannibalism, but I think we have to accept it took place,” Rossi said. “Neanderthals met a violent end at our hands, and in some cases, we ate them.”

So remember kids, make sure the person rubbing sun tan lotion on your back isn't actually marinating you.

In the first public execution of an English queen, Anne Boleyn is beheaded. In her speech, Boleyn has nothing but good things to say about her husband, Henry VIII: "I pray God save the king and send him long to reign over you, for a gentler nor a more merciful prince was there never: and to me he was ever a good, a gentle and sovereign lord."

Except of course for this whole beheading thing.

Democrats staged a fund-raiser in New York's Madison Square Garden that was billed as a birthday salute to President Kennedy.

Perhaps it takes a huge amount of hubris to have your mistress, Marilyn Monroe performed a sultry rendition of ``Happy Birthday to You'' in front of your wife and the nation.

Apparently, Kennedy had balls.

And so it goes
